Our Expertise in Radiographic Testing

We deliver unparalleled precision and reliability in non-destructive examination for welding components and assemblies. Our seasoned professionals adhere to the rigorous ISO 17636-1, -2, and ISO 10675 standards to ensure that every testing process meets the highest industry benchmarks.
Radiographic Testing hinges on our in-depth understanding of how electromagnetic radiation of short wavelengths or particulate radiation interacts with the materials under scrutiny. Variations in density, thickness, and composition within the test piece necessitate a keen eye for detail. Our experts skillfully capture these variations and expose the film emulsion to create latent images, which only become visible after meticulous film development.
Not only do we offer just technical proficiency but also state-of-the-art equipment and technology to facilitate Radiographic Testing with precision. Whether employing fluorescent screens, electronic radiation detectors, or traditional film methods, our commitment to delivering reliable results is unwavering.

Radiographic Testing Insights

We offer valuable insights into the world of Radiographic Testing (RT). In light of concerns about radiation exposure and its impact on living tissue, many countries around the world are transitioning from RT to Ultrasonic Testing (UT). This shift is driven by the recognition that both methods offer comprehensive volumetric assessments of welds. We promise to keep you informed about these developments and guide you in choosing the most suitable NDT method for your specific needs.

Our Penetrant Testing Expertise

We harness our expertise to carry out Penetrant Testing with precision and ensure the identification of even the subtlest surface irregularities. Trust us to deliver the quality and reliability you need to maintain the structural and functional soundness of your materials.

The Limitations of Liquid Penetrant Testing

LPT is primarily capable of detecting imperfections that are open to the surface, making it less effective at uncovering internal flaws. The surface roughness of the object being tested also plays a significant role in the effectiveness of LPT. Rough or porous surfaces are more likely to yield false indications or miss relevant discontinuities.
Liquid Penetrant Testing involves a straightforward process comprising five essential steps: surface preparation, application of penetrant, removal of excess penetrant, application of developer, and interpretation and evaluation, culminating in comprehensive reporting. These steps ensure the efficient detection and assessment of surface imperfections.

Ultrasonic Testing

Ultrasonic Testing employs high-frequency sound waves (1MHz and above) to detect discontinuities, whether planar or volumetric, within the material under examination. These sound waves traverse the material, experiencing some energy attenuation due to absorption and scattering. At interfaces, the sound waves are reflected, and the extent of reflection depends on the nature, size, and orientation of the discontinuity.
Our NDT consultancy team detects and analyzes the reflected beams and define the presence and location of flaws. Ultrasonic waves exhibit nearly complete reflection at metal-to-air/gas interfaces, while metal-to-liquid or metal-to-solid interfaces result in partial reflection, with the percentage of reflected energy contingent on the acoustic impedance of the interface mediums. Ultrasonic inspection instruments effectively identify flaws by recognizing energy reflection from metal-liquid interfaces, metal-gas interfaces, or a metal’s internal discontinuities. They also gauge the time it takes for sound waves to traverse the test piece from the transmitting transducer's entry point to the receiving transducer's exit point. Plus, our instruments evaluate the attenuation of the sound wave beam due to absorption and scattering within the test piece.

Limitations of Ultrasonic Flaw Detection

Effective coupling of ultrasonic energy between transducers and the parts (need to be tested) requires the use of couplants. Plus, the use of reference standards is vital, both for calibrating the equipment and for characterizing flaws. At M/S. GIRISH CHANDRA GHOSH & G.G.S, we emphasize the significance of these considerations and guide you in making informed decisions regarding Ultrasonic Flaw Detection. We alos ensure that the method is applied correctly and effectively to your materials and components.

Ultrasonic Inspection Excellence

M/S. GIRISH CHANDRA GHOSH & G.G.S offers superior Ultrasonic Inspection services, featuring advanced ultrasonic equipment with built-in DGS curves, and AWS flaw sizing techniques, specifically tailored for precise weld inspections. We employ transducers that are meticulously chosen for their exceptional sensitivity, making them ideal for various inspection applications.

Magnetic Particle Testing

Magnetic Particle Testing is a non-destructive method specifically designed to identify surface and near-surface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials. This method capitalizes on the principle that when the material under examination is magnetized, any discontinuities within it that disrupt the magnetic field's direction create a leakage field above the surface. To detect the presence of this leakage field, finely divided ferromagnetic particles are applied to the surface.
Ferromagnetic materials encompass a broad range, including various iron, nickel, and cobalt alloys. These materials lose their ferromagnetic properties when subjected to temperatures above a characteristic point known as the Curie point, which typically occurs at approximately 760°C for most ferromagnetic materials.

Eddy Current Testing Expertise

Being a NDT placement consultancy service provider, M/S. GIRISH CHANDRA GHOSH & G.G.S specializes in Eddy Current Testing, following ISO 17643 procedures and acceptance criteria. ECT is a highly effective non-destructive testing method that plays a pivotal role in ensuring the quality of components in industries such as heat exchanger tubes, aerospace, oil & gas, and various structural applications. This method is invaluable at different stages of manufacturing and for in-service inspections, with a primary focus on surface and subsurface crack testing. Eddy Current Testing identifies the finest surface flaws in a conductive material.
Today, Eddy Current NDT has a wide range of applications, including real-time non-contact thickness measurement to monitor process quality, material sorting, mixing, and precise measurements of paint and non-conductive coating thickness. The demand for Eddy Current Testing is on the rise, driven by the increasing utilization of nonferrous conducting materials across numerous engineering applications.

Understanding the Eddy Current Testing Principle

In this method, a specimen is kept into close proximity to the alternating flux field generated by an eddy current coil. The coil's magnetic flux induces electrons in the specimen to circulate in an eddy-like pattern, which is why they are referred to as "eddy currents." The behavior of these eddy currents is influenced by the characteristics of both the magnetic flux and the specimen itself. Essentially, eddy currents are circular alternating currents generated by the variation in the magnetic field.
